Thyroid cancer is a growing threat for women. According to a new database analysis, it has been found that breast cancer survivors have an increased risk of developing primary thyroid cancer. The study was conducted on individuals who had been diagnosed with thyroid and breast cancer out of which 1,526 people developed thyroid cancer after breast cancer with a gap of five years.This finding was presented at the annual meeting of the endocrine society in California by Jennifer Hong Kuo, who is an assistant professor of surgery at Columbia University. It was discussed that thyroid cancer screening should be considered for breast cancer survivors.
